April is National Poetry Month, and today, April 17, is National Haiku Poetry Day. To celebrate the day, I’m sharing a selection of the haiku and senryu I’ve had published over the past year, since I first started submitting my poems to journals and anthologies.

cowlick

some part of me

still wild

the time we are given…

sparks rise through darkness

to join the stars

home from errands—

a hero’s welcome

from the dog

what remains

of the mountain

sand between my toes

lines of foam

over and over the sea

writes its story

fog-shrouded coast

we listen

to the view

for better or for worse

our lights and darks

tumbling together

our easy silence

every puddle

sky-deep

for tracks . . .

who was I before

I was tamed?
